Big Blue Bear
Big Blue Bear at Convention Center:
On a heavy snowy day, I visited Denver’s iconic Big Blue Bear statue, its gaze pressed against the glass of the Colorado Convention Center. The city was completely cloaked in white that day, with thick snowflakes falling so densely they blurred the edges of everything. I stood there, looking up at the giant bear through a veil of snow, and this moment an image formed in mind.
In the picture, a small girl runs toward the bear regardless in the big the snow, and you can barely see her silhouette against the storm. And there’s a sense of arrival, of something long awaited. Yet beneath this moment lies another layer, that is this quiet, all-white, beautiful snow wonderland that softens everything.
This image was created from that thought. We spend so much of our lives chasing something— whether it is a goal, a destination, or a perfect moment. But imagine yourself finally get there, that place you dreamed of, would you still feel as happy and as complete as you would imagined? You’ve reached your destination—unless your destination is love.
